![]() The Wiki entry, from which I take much of my historical information. But, in summary: Michael is God's General, the Prince of Heaven, and Captain of the Host. He is one of the highest - if not the highest - archangels in Heaven, and a patron saint in Roman Catholicism. Most of the historical information can be found in the above link, so I will not waste time and thought putting it down here. Rather, I think it prudent to give a few more details about Michael himself than his titular positions and accomplishments. First and foremost, Michael loves God. Some theologians will argue that the angels are incapable of emotion and whatnot, but I myself don't believe this to be the case. Again, we could get into a debate about it, but let me merely say that the Prince of Heaven does indeed love and revere his God above everything in all the universes. He obeys without question, even when those orders sometimes cause him pain, because he believes in the greater good and the forwarding of God's plan. Although he is normally viewed as a stern and stoic angel, Michael does also possess a keen sense of compassion and mercy, known for his patience and forbearance. He cares deeply for those he has come to love, but he will not go outside the Lord's orders should they cause conflict between he and they. A bone of much contention over the eons. Michael was also the archangel responsible for smiting Sammael and his followers from heaven and into purgatory during the Initial Fall from Heaven. In this battle with his fallen brother, two of his wings were scorched and scarred beyond all repair. This blemish has forever marred his celestiance in the eyes of his brethren, but they serve as a reminder of what is to come at the end of all things, and Michael will carry those scars to his perfection for all eternity. Despite even that, Michael feels a keen sense of loss for his brother, for he and Sammael were especially close. It grieved him more than he could display to have to be the one to carry out those orders, but he obeyed nevertheless, and he knows that he and Sammael aren't done with their battle. There will be one final struggle, for it has been foreordained and although Michael has little wish to meet Sammael in that titanic contest, he will do it regardless, for it is God's will. As Gabriel is God's messenger and bearer of good tidings, Michael is His Hand of Judgment, delivering God's punishment to those who have earned His retribution. A hard task, but one eminently suited to the archangel. It is his right and honor, and he carries out his duties to perfection, also holding those beneath him to the same standard. Michael has a rather singular sense of humor, sometimes bordering on the melancholy and cynical. He takes care to keep his temper under strict control, and tolerates little nonsense from those around him. Nevertheless, he is polite and kind to those deserving, always willing to lend a helping hand or wing. The vessel in which Michael appears is his own form, bequeathed to him by Yahweh for use when walking among the mortal plane. Lesser creatures cannot look upon an angel's true form - they will either go blind or insane - so the human form is very useful. Although whenever Michael becomes irritated or is utilizing his celestial power, his form will begin to radiate celestial light, the intensity directly connected to his mood. Angels do not possess souls, so they do not have typical human characteristics. They do not have to blink, breathe, twitch, fidget, eat, drink or sleep. However, they might do any of these things simply out of curiosity, or perhaps in order to "blend" with the mortal crowd a bit better. They can see into the human heart, read souls and just "know" things about others simply because that's what they are. However, Michael is very contentious about this and does not broadcast information unless necessary. He has a great respect and love for the chosen children of his God and upholds the dictums set down at Time's beginning. *Note: Because of the character and the canonical information, some minor god-modding is inevitable (ex: he knows names before introductions, can discern whether someone is "human" or "other" without being informed, ect). I do my best to keep him as low-key as possible, but because Michael is who he is, I try to be as careful as possible not to step on any toes. ![]() Abilities: ⇒ Flight {has six black wings, twenty-foot span at the top, ten feet in the middle, but the final set are ripped and charred and will never heal // wings can be soft as cotton or hard as diamond} ⇒ Telepathy/telekinesis {used very sparingly} ⇒ Smiting of demons of any rank, humans, monsters, and even his angelic brethren ⇒ Able to bestow God's love on those deserving {although this is very costly} ⇒ Able to relieve physical pain {although not completely if the pain is chronic} ⇒ Only archangel able to smite Sammael/Lucifer/the Devil in any incarnation ⇒ Can breach the firmament between Heaven and Earth ⇒ Able to reach out from the incorporeal realm and make his voice heard and touch felt ⇒ Creation Itself is very in tune with the moods of Heaven's Prince.
